A collection of my photographs, interests (Geocaching and camping), past times , and thoughts

Lake Pukaki

This is a photo taken  a good few years ago on my trip around the South Island of New Zealand.    Lake  Pukaki is situated in the central Alpine area of the South Island….The peak in the distance is Mt Cook.       This area featured a number of times in the  “Lord of the Rings” movies..   Camera gear was nothing special if my memory serves me correct it was a 9 mega pixel Fuji point and shoot. (9 mega pixel was a lot back then 🙂   )

Yep is and amazing place..we loved touring around the South island in our camper van…(such a different environment than that of WA..they have real mountains and fresh water streams)….We plan to go back to New Zealand and tour the North Island in 2012.
Thanks for the comments…you can see why ‘Lord of the Rings” was filmed there..you cant even get “special effects ” to be as landscape dramatic as the real thing.
