So who is John Grant:
WELL..Im just your average guy that has a bit of a passion for photography.
I live in Albany on the South Coast of Western Australia..(The region is sometimes also known as the “The Rainbow Coast”)
Whilst Im a mechanic by trade I have though for the past 22+ years worked in the field of Natural Resource Science and Agricultural Science which has etched into me the value of our Natural Resources and hence the reason for photographing and enjoying the outdoors (Its hard not to enjoy the outdoors when you live on the Sth Coast of WA and in particular Albany).
The tendency today is to always look at the big picture issues like the greenhouse effect, salinity, declining water quality or loss of biodiversity etc etc.. And as such, it’s very easy to get disillusioned and disconnect from the problems themselves.
You see environmental problems are the aggregate and cumulative result of lots and lots of everyday decisions and actions by individual people, families, businesses and communities.
This means that, ultimately, the best way to fix environmental problems is to influence those ordinary, everyday, local decisions and actions.
With my work in Natural Resource Science and together with my enjoyment for Photography, Gecaching and Camping I get to see many of the magic parts of our environment on the South Coast of WA (unfortunately I also get to see some of the worst).
A couple of additional pastimes I enjoy that also partner well with photography and our diverse environment here on the WA south Coast are:
Geo-Caching : www.geocaching.com
And hooking up my Camper Trailer : www.myswag.org
And catching up with some local friends that share the same interests www.campingwa.net/campingwa/.…hooking up their camper trailers / vans
Whilst the kids have grown up and left home,…. Myself, Nola and Dylan (our Border Collie) make the most between our work schedule to get out with the cameras, GPS and Camper when ever we can.
So please take a look around our web blog, and its pages
